Ireland offers green landscapes, historic cities, friendly people and a unique culture that continues to attract Pakistani travelers. Unlike most of Europe, Ireland is not part of the Schengen Area. Pakistani passport holders must apply for a separate Irish Short Stay ‘C’ visa before travel. This visa allows stays of up to 90 days for tourism, visiting family or friends, or short business trips.
Who Needs an Ireland Visa?
Every Pakistani citizen needs a visa to enter the Republic of Ireland. There is no visa-on-arrival or e-visa option for ordinary Pakistani passports. A valid UK or US visa may allow limited short-stay waiver access in some cases, but most applicants must complete the full Irish visa process.
Types of Ireland Visas
Short Stay ‘C’ Visa – Tourism, family visits, business meetings or short courses (up to 90 days)
Long Stay ‘D’ Visa – Study, work or family reunification lasting more than 90 days
Transit Visa – Airport transit only
Most Pakistani applicants apply for the Short Stay ‘C’ category.

Processing Time and Application Process
Irish authorities recommend applying at least 8–12 weeks before your planned travel date. Processing usually takes 4–8 weeks after a complete file is received, but can take longer during peak periods.
Step-by-Step Application Process
Complete the online application form on the official AVATS portal and pay the visa fee.
Print the application summary sheet.
Gather all required original documents.
Book an appointment at a VFS Global centre (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi or Mirpur).
Attend the appointment, submit biometrics and hand over your documents and passport.
The visa allows entry to the Republic of Ireland only (not the UK or Schengen countries).
Carry printed copies of your insurance, accommodation and return ticket.
Ireland uses the Euro. Cards are widely accepted, but keep some cash for smaller places.
English is the main language, so communication is easy for most Pakistani travelers.
Weather can change quickly — pack layers even in summer.
